SAVANNAH - Margaret Thompson Murphy Carroll, 89, passed away Thursday May 31st at Azalealand Nursing Home. "Sweetie" as she was known to all was born in Jacksonville, FL to Fred & Margaret Thompson. During her life she had worked for Winn Dixie & Hallmark Cards. Her true passion was art. She will be remembered for her love of painting & teaching others to paint whether it was ceramics, canvas, oil, acrylic or water colors.
Sweetie was predeceased by 2 loving husbands, Elton H. Murphy & Thomas J Carroll. She is survived by 3 sons, Elton H. Murphy Jr. Marge of La Salle, IL, Michael S. Murphy Beverly, Savannah, GA, & Thomas J. Carroll Jr. Kathy, Savannah, GA, 6 grandchildren Barbara, Dawn, Danny, Kelly, Gabriel & Shannon & several great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
A memorial service for Sweetie will be held Friday, June 8th, 2012 at 11:00AM at Whitefield United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at the church between 10:00AM & 11:00AM, before the memorial service. Interment will be at Northside Cemetery in Pembroke at 2:00PM. Donations to Whitefield United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
